“I Have Chosen the Good Part”

Brant Gardner

Lehi testifies of how this principle has governed his life. His last sentence shows his compassionate love for his sons. He tries to forestall Laman’s and Lemuel’s almost inevitable offense at one more lecture, first, by ostensibly speaking to Jacob, and then, after applying the lesson to all, declaring his love and concern for them.

Reference: The phrase “chosen the good part” echoes Luke 10:42: “Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”

Text: This is the end of a chapter in the 1830 edition.
