After concluding his didactic exposition, Lehi makes an emotional appeal to his sons to look to the Atoning Messiah and obey the commandments. They have choices. They must choose well. Although this sermon is technically embedded in his patriarchal blessing upon Jacob (v. 2), it is clearly for all of his sons.
