“For He Seeketh That All Men Might Be Miserable Like Unto Himself”

W. Cleon Skousen

And just as mankind fell to achieve God's purposes, so God provided an atonement and a Savior so their sins could be forgiven after they repented. Thus, mankind could learn the difference between good and evil without being punished for the mistakes they made during the learning process. Of course this required sincere repentance and a commitment before God through baptism that they would strive to keep his commandments to the best of their ability. Meanwhile, Lehi wanted his children to know their enemy. Satan strives with all his power to get mankind to follow him because he wants the children of the Father to be miserable like himself.
