“Jacob”

George Reynolds, Janne M. Sjodahl

The first of two sons born to Lehi in the wilderness before the travelers arrived in the Land of Bountiful, about 595 B.C. The name is derived from a verb which means, "to overreach," "to circumvent." The name of the second son was Joseph. In due time these two brethren were made priests and teachers in the Land of Nephi. (2 Ne. 5:26)

In the day of my tribulation. This refers to the journey from Nahom to Bountiful in Arabia, during which time children were born and miraculously sustained. (1 Ne. 17:1-6)
