Laman and Lemuel had clearly complained because it was inappropriate for the younger to chastise the older. Nevertheless, Lehi again upholds Nephi’s actions, reversing cultural expectations, by explaining that the chastisements were the voice of the Spirit, not the voice of an upstart or power-seeking younger brother.
