The promises of deliverance must have been difficult for Israel to understand, given their political subordination at the time. Nevertheless, Yahweh repeats assurances of unimaginable deliverance; lawful captives will be taken from the “terrible.” Yahweh will save their children. That promise is firm, clear, and undeniable.
