“They Shall Not Be Ashamed That Wait for Me”

Brant Gardner

The Gentiles will nourish, not dominate Israel. This, indeed, has been Israel’s modern history as established by world powers after World War II. Yahweh reminds Israel that restoration and respect are the reward of those who “wait for me.” Yahweh’s benefits come in his own time, not ours.

Jacob uses verses 22–23 as the basis for his sermon at Nephi’s request (2 Ne. 6:4). In that sermon, Jacob recontextualizes them from the Old World to the New World.
