Israel’s second complaint is abandonment. Speaking as a bereaved woman, herself a desolate captive, Israel laments that she has lost her children. A theme in this chapter and the last has been the scattering of Israel, which is where the complaint focuses. The Judge/Lord has promised to care for Israel, including the lost children on the isles of the sea.
