“To Be Lifted Up”

George Reynolds, Janne M. Sjodahl

Refers to the death of our Lord on the cross. (See v. 13) Also the following: "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. This he said, signifying what death he should die." (33)

Zenock. Possibly the Hebrew, tsinok, (3 Ne. 10:16)

Neum. Among those who returned from Babylon with Zerubbabel was one Nehum (Heb., Nechum), one of the chiefs of the Jewish community. It is probably the same name as Nahum. Another, but longer, form of this name is, Nehemiah (Nehem-jah), which means, "Jehovah is full of consolation." The name was not uncommon among the Hebrews. The Neum referred to by Nephi prophesied of the crucifixion of our Lord.

Zenos. A Hebrew prophet, who prophesied of the death of Christ and the darkness that would be a sign to the house of Israel of his descent into the realm of the dead. (See also Jac. 5:1; 6:1; 34:7)
