The brother of Jared was one of the "others" referred to. He was shown a vision of the history of the world which is contained in the sealed portion of the Book of Mormon (Ether 3:25-7). Apparently, the brother of Jared wrote in such purity that the Lord would not allow us to have this record before some more events transpire and before we are ready, for there never were greater things made manifest than those which were made manifest unto the brother of Jared (Ether 4:4).
