“A Great and a Marvelous Work”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
In speaking of the time when he would bring the long night of apostasy to a close, the Lord said: “Therefore, I will proceed to do a marvelous work among this people, yea, a marvelous work and a wonder, for the wisdom of their wise and learned shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent shall be hid” (2 Nephi 27:25-26; cf. Isaiah 29:13-14). The marvelous work was and is the work of restoration of the fulness of the gospel, the beginning of the “times of restitution” (Acts 3:21), an age initiated by the call of Joseph Smith.
