The Gentiles Did Prosper and Obtain the Land

George Reynolds, Janne M. Sjodahl

According to the vision of Nephi, the wrath of God was upon the descendants of his brothers, wherefore they were scattered, while the Spirit of the Lord was upon the Gentiles, and they obtained the land as their inheritance. The title is therefore of divine origin. It is indisputable.

White, fair, and beautiful. Those characteristics seem to point to the Anglo-Saxon race. In this connection a few statistics may be of interest. The entire population of the United States in 1950 was, according to the census, 150,697,361. Of these, 343,410 were Indians. Consequently, 150,353,951 were immigrants or descendants of immigrants.

In 1950 there were in the United States 33,750,653 persons born in foreign countries, some as follows:

England and Wales 2,027,845 Netherlands 374,668

North Ireland 45,228 Belgium 138,391

Ireland (Eire) 2,396,456 Switzerland 287,175

Norway 854,674 France 361,589

Sweden 1,189,639 Germany 4,726,946

Denmark 426,607 Canada 2,982,318

This is an index to the origin of a majority of the population in the United States, counting both foreign born and their descendants.

Like unto my people. Nephi saw the resemblance between this race and the Children of Israel. We know that the blood of Israel is flowing in the veins of a great many of these immigrants.
