“My Brethren… Were Scattered Before the Gentiles”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
From the time of Columbus’s arrival in the New World, the native Americans began to be scattered and smitten by the colonists. The immigrants were frequently rapacious and unhindered in their plundering of the Lamanites and the natural resources of the land of promise. This treatment of the descendants of Lehi was all a part of the prophesied scattering of the Lamanites as a result of their dark and benighted manner of living over many centuries.
