The Scriptures tell us that the Lord is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think (James 1:5). This is true in the case of Nephi. He asked to know the things his father had seen. That prayer was granted. And in addition he was accorded the privilege of visions far beyond his expectations. That is always the case when we ask in faith and let the Holy Spirit dictate our prayers.
