“Believest Thou… ?”
The Spirit was here assessing Nephi’s bearing capacity and discerning the depths of his desire to see and know all that his father did. “Believest thou the words which I shall speak?” the Lord had similarly asked the brother of Jared. Mahonri Moriancumer answered: “Yea, Lord, I know that thou speakest the truth, for thou art a God of truth, and canst not lie.” (Ether 3:11-12.)
