“I Will Go”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
Verse 7, one of the most cited and quoted verses in all of holy writ, sets forth clearly the attitude of those who trust implicitly in the purposes of God: though the means for accomplishing specific objectives are not always readily apparent, the obedient—acting upon the peaceful assurance born of the Spirit—move forward in quiet but deliberate ways, knowing full well that further light and knowledge will be forthcoming. “And thus we see,” Nephi later observed, “that the commandments of God must be fulfilled. And if it so be that the children of men keep the commandments of God he doth nourish them, and strengthen them, and provide means whereby they can accomplish the thing which he has commanded them.” (1 Nephi 17:3.)
