“I, Nephi, Being Exceedingly Young”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
How frequently the Lord chooses those who are young in mortal years for his errand! Noble personalities like Enoch and Noah and David and Mary and Samuel and Joseph Smith—all prepared and foreordained before the world was—these come into mortality with spiritual capacities, dispositions, and maturity which outreach those of their senior associates. God can work upon young souls and prepare them in such a manner that they, “the weak things of the world,” might “come forth and break down the mighty and strong ones” (D&C 1:19).
