John the Revelator’s description of the experience is quite different from Lehi’s. Lehi is “filled with the Spirit,” presumably pleasant, while John finds that the book is “bitter.” Nevertheless, both experiences result in the same outcome: the prophet’s mission to call his people to repentance.
