Redaction: Moroni introduces “robbers” in the same context as Mormon does when writing about the Gadianton robbers. They “adopted the old plans” and, significantly, “sought again to destroy the kingdom.” This is the classic definition of the secret combinations and the underlying definition of the Gadianton robbers through all their various guises. The vocabulary is probably Moroni’s, and I conjecture that he emphasized these secret combinations more than Ether did.
