“Sawest Thou More Than This?”

W. Cleon Skousen

Now the Lord had another surprise for Mahonri Moriancumr. He wondered if the brother of Jared has seen anything besides the finger of the Lord, and when he replied that he had not, the Lord said his faith was so strong that the Lord could no longer keep himself hidden from him. He said many prophets had seen God in the past but none had been able to do it on their own initiative. In earlier instances the Lord had to quicken his servants so they could stand to look upon him. In other words, never before had any of God's servants been able to elevate their faith to the point where their natural eyes could penetrate the veil and behold the glorious personage of God.

In view of what the Lord had said, it was almost predictable what Mahonori would say. In a burst of righteous curiosity, He exclaimed: "Lord, show thyself unto me!"
