Even though Joseph will be persecuted, he will be preserved to do his divine task. While the Savior certainly knew of the coming martyrdom of the Prophet, that knowledge was spared the younger Joseph while he was translating. This verse would have been a comfort to Joseph as he endured persecutions and other hardships as part of the translation process, and then continued difficulties after the Book of Mormon was published.
