“They Arose Up and Stood Upon Their Feet”

W. Cleon Skousen

It will be recalled that we are now at the beginning of the second day of Christ's ministry among the Nephites. Jesus has a very tender feeling toward all of these survivors from the great destruction which took place at the time of his crucifixion. These Nephites had exhibited such a rich quality of faith that it even exceeded the faith of the Saints in Jerusalem. The scene opens with the multitude engaged in solemn prayer.

It is significant that Jesus suspended the active prayers of this huge congregation but then urged them to continue praying in their hearts for the blessings they urgently desired.
