In fact because the Lamanites will have passed through centuries of apostasy and darkness, the Gentiles will be better prepared to receive the restored gospel than the Lamanites. Therefore the restoration of the gospel in the latter days will be first to the Gentiles and then to the seed of Jacob or the Lamanites.
