“May Be Brought to a Knowledge of Me”

W. Cleon Skousen

Dr. Hugh Nibley of Brigham Young University discovered a passage in the writings of an early Christian named Origen who indicated that the Christian Greeks knew about a people called the Antichthonians. This name means "the people living on the other side of the earth." Origen said the Antichthonians could not be reached because of the width of the ocean but they had the same gospel ordinances as those which Jesus had given to the Jews. This suggests that perhaps the Jewish Apostles had eventually gotten around to asking for a revelation about the Savior's "other sheep." At least they seem to have known that Christianity had reached the people on the other side of the earth. This comment by Origen is mentioned by Dr. Nibley in his book, The Introduction to the Book of Mormon, on p. 285.
