“Old Things Had Passed Away”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
To allay their concerns about this new order of gospel teachings and practices, Jesus reiterates his identity as Jehovah the Lawgiver-as evidence of his authority to change their religious practice. He reminds them that the whole purpose of the law was to point to the “infinite and eternal sacrifice” which is now fulfilled in him. Three times in these verses he states that the law is fulfilled in him.
