This is very similar to God’s introduction of his Son Jesus Christ in the New Testament (see Mark 1:11 or Matthew 3:17), as he is being baptized at the very start of his ministry. However, the Book of Mormon adds the supplementary phrase “in whom I have glorified my name.” Since Christ’s visit to the Nephites occurs after his ministry, death, and resurrection, this means that all these events have succeeded in glorifying the name of the Father.
