“They Saw a Man Descending Out of Heaven”

George Reynolds, Janne M. Sjodahl

A great multitude of Nephites were gathered together on the Temple Grounds in Bountiful. They were conversing about the destruction wrought by the recent storms and earthquakes, of which news had reached them (III Nephi 8:5-25), also of the darkness that had followed. While thus conversing they heard a voice, a sound that pierced their very souls; but it was not understood. Again and again, that voice came. As they heard it a third time, they became aware of its meaning. It said: "Behold, My beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased, in Whom I have glorified My Name. Hear ye Him."

As they looked towards the source from which that voice came, they saw a heavenly Being descending. He was clothed in white robes. As He stood among them, they thought He was an angel. But He spoke to them saying: "Behold, I am Jesus Christ."
