“Because of Their Wickedness in Casting out the Prophets”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
It is significant to note the Lord’s definition of the wicked whom he had caused to be destroyed. While he could have recited an extensive listing of their abominations, the Lord simply cited their rejection of the living prophets whom he had sent unto them to “cry repentance.” This phrase seems to be saying that most, if not all, of the wickedness of the world and individual iniquity could be averted through heeding the words of the Lord’s living prophets (see Jeremiah 5:21; Acts 3:22-23; D&C 1:14).
