The Nephite people propose taking the offensive by attacking the city of the Gadiantons. Gidgiddoni understands that the Gadiantons are too strong for such an attack to succeed. Yahweh may be with them, but he is with them in helping them make wise choices.

Gidgiddoni assures the people that the best strategy is defensive—one that increases the Gadiantons’ supply-line problems. As a military man, Gidgiddoni would be well aware of the extra strain that strategy would place on the Gadianton army.
