“There Was No Darkness”

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

The Redeemer announces His divine agenda in coming into the world—to fulfill all prophecy concerning His Mission and to do the will of the Father. Being “the light of the world” (John 8:12; Mosiah 16:9; Alma 38:9; 3 Nephi 9:18; D&C 10:70), the Savior most appropriately arranges for the sign of His birth to be miraculous light. The Lord blesses the world with signs of His ministry and mission in order to help His children prepare for the momentous events of the kingdom. Thus come the remarkable signs of His birth, including a night without darkness and the appearance of a brilliant new star in the heavens.
