Some of the greatest signs would understandably accompany the greatest event in history, the coming into mortality of Earth’s Creator himself.
In many dispensations, the Lord’s Saints have had the promise of signs—gifts of the Spirit given to those who believe and obey the gospel of Jesus Christ (Mark 16:16–18; Mormon 9:24–25; D&C 68:9–11). Signs flow from and strengthen faith but do not generate it out of nothing (D&C 63:7–11). Signs are manifestations of God’s love. Of course Satan has his counterfeits, “signs and lying wonders,” to try to deceive our Heavenly Father’s children who do not love the truth (2 Thessalonians 2:9; see verses 9–12).
