The Lamanites have, as Aminadab instructed them, prayed until they had faith in the Messiah and have sincerely recognized that he is worthy of worship. (The Nephites understood the Messiah as Yahweh come to earth.) Their faith has been answered by the disappearance of the cloud. Now they themselves are part of another divine event—surrounded by but not consumed by the same fire as Nephi and Lehi. Where they were once outside of the protective divine fire, now they are within it.
