“The Third Time the Voice Came”

Brant Gardner

The voice speaks three times, and each time the earth trembles, thus underscoring that the association is not coincidental. The voice is causing the trembling. Because the trembling would have been associated with the divine, even without the voice, the connection with God was doubly assured by its presence. This triple repetition of the voice recurs when the Messiah arrives in the New World (3 Ne. 11:3–6).
