Both passages describe Yahweh’s voice and do so with a similar vocabulary, thus suggesting a common source. No comparable phrasing is found in the New Testament, which has so often been Joseph Smith’s model for descriptions. I therefore suggest that this language is Mormon’s terminology for the Spirit’s effect.
