“His Brother Lehi”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

Recognizing that his work as a public servant in the governmental arena was futile because of the wickedness of the citizenry, Nephi gave up the judgment-seat and, along with his brother Lehi, devoted himself full-time to the preaching of the gospel. In this he followed the pattern of his great-grandfather Alma (see Alma 4:15-20) in doing what was of most worth (see D&C 15:6). It is the preaching of the words of Christ that changes hearts, lives, and even governments (see Alma 31:5). It is not laws or alliances but living the gospel of the Prince of Peace that ensures lasting peace and prosperity.
