Despite the overtones of frustration at the end of Helaman’s letter, most of the letter contained tremendous good news. It would have had an even greater impact on Moroni’s war-weary soldiers that it does on modern readers. Jershon, the Ammonite homeland, lay in the quarter of the land that Moroni was defending. Undoubtedly he immediately sent a messenger to Jershon to inform the anxious parents of their sons’ miraculous achievement and deliverance.
