“The People of Nephi Did Thank the Lord Their God”

These three verses should be read together because Mormon has arranged them for the contrast between Amalickiah, angry because of the defeat, and the Nephites, grateful because of their victory. Mormon does not attribute the victory to Moroni here, though he clearly appreciates Moroni’s genius. Rather, Mormon highlights the most important aspect of the Nephites’ success: their righteousness, which resulted in Yahweh’s blessing.
