“Moroni Divided His Army and Brought a Part Over into the Valley”

Brant Gardner

The lay of the land apparently dictates that the approaching Lamanites come not only from the east but by the north side of the hill Riplah. Therefore, Moroni divides his army into two units, one on each side of the river and near a convenient ford. Presumably the topography was rough enough on both banks that Moroni’s units could lie concealed until the Lamanite army had passed the hill.
