2. The violation of the laws of God brings suffering. The Atonement does not negate the necessity of godly sorrow or godly suffering in the process of cleansing the soul. Pain is a purifying agent. The miracle of healing the sin-laden soul rests with God, yet that miracle is rarely manifest in such a manner as to disallow all suffering.
