Antionum was located on the Nephite border next to a wilderness that “was full of the Lamanites” (Alma 31:3). Apparently, the refusal of Jershon, Antionum’s nearest Nephite neighbor, was decisive in breaking the Zoramite affiliation with Zarahemla. Deciding to exact military vengeance against Jershon, the Zoramites turned to the Lamanites to find allies.
