Why is being “perfectly honest” a fundamental value in the gospel?

Thomas R. Valletta

“Visions are not idly given by the Lord but reserved for specific purposes. One of the Lord’s purposes for visions is ‘preparing men for salvation.’ The case of Abish cannot be seen as an exception, for she was prepared to help her people come to a knowledge of salvation. When she witnessed the condition of the king’s court, she recognized the power of God and knew what she must do. Her testimony as a Lamanite strengthened the testimony of Ammon, a Nephite foreigner, and satisfied the law of witnesses. (D&C 6:28.)” (Fronk, “Show Forth Good Examples in Me,” 326–27).
