Though it is true that the actual event of atonement lay in the future, from the days of Adam men and women of faith called upon the Father in the name of the Son; pleaded for forgiveness by virtue of the precious blood that would be spilled in the meridian of time; and knew the joy of their redemption through the merits and mercy of the Holy Messiah.
