Mormon adds this detail to document Ammon’s exemplary faithfulness. The king is amazed that this hero, who may be a demi-god, has simply moved on to the next task. It would be human nature to expect praise, even a reward, for such a mighty deed. Ammon, however, behaves as though nothing special has happened; and Lamoni correctly understands that this is the most remarkable thing of all. Ammon’s small obedience has demonstrated his supreme loyalty to the king.
