“Many Were Brought Before the Altar of God”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
The altar was a place of prayer and confession to God, a place of sacrifice, a place of covenant, a place of the divine presence. “An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me,” the Lord told Israel in the days of Moses, “and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee” (Exodus 20:24).
