What do we learn about the people of Ammonihah as they question “the testimony of one man”?

Thomas R. Valletta

“Under Nephite religious law, all people were free to believe whatever they desired (see Alma 1:17). The law protected the right of personal belief and even allowed individuals to teach those beliefs as long as others were not forced or injured. An important teaching of the Church was and always will be to eliminate religious intolerance and bigotry. The true saints of God respected Nehor’s right to believe and teach as he pleased, but they armed themselves with the word of God so they would not be deceived” (Reeve, “Dealing with Opposition to the Church,” 16).
