What makes people unwilling to accept gospel truth?

Thomas R. Valletta

“Indeed, what [Nehor] spoke was not the word of God, but it was what he would have wished the word of God to be. The perverse and the malicious frequently devise their own form of divinity, conjure up their own words of truth, and create their own set of values. They then blaspheme against divine order by stating that their views are heaven-sent and have God’s approbation” (McConkie and Millet, Doctrinal Commentary, 3:3).
