“Alma Returned to His House and the Ninth Year is Ended”

Monte S. Nyman

The additional things that Alma teaches were probably written on the larger plates of Nephi since Mormon mentions them in his abridgement. Also, the things done to establish the order of the church in Gideon may be given in more detail in the larger plates (v. 1). Alma probably remained in the city for some time. He commenced his reformation movement in the beginning of the ninth year of the reign of the judges (Alma 8:20), but how long he spent in Zarahemla is not given. In addition, we do not know how long he rested from his labors in Gideon after he returned to Zarahemla, but the year ended as he remained in Zarahemla.
