Alma understands the Messiah’s coming as so literal that he makes a distinction between the possible and the probable time of his appearance. Alma understands that Jesus will live his life in the Old World but does not know if Jesus will come to the New World as a mortal. Nevertheless, he knows that the Messiah will come “among us” in the New World.
