After Alma’s army crossed to the west bank, they pursued the fleeing Lamanite army. No further battle occurs. Rather, after Alma defeated both kings, the whole Lamanite/Amlicite army fled while the Nephite army, which had not been engaged in a battle, pursued. Their role is ensure that the Lamanite/Amlicite army leaves the land of Zarahemla.
