“Amlici A Very Cunning Man”

D. Kelly Ogden, Andrew C. Skinner

Another major challenge to the new governmental system of judges surfaced. It seems that in every generation there are those who are cunning, worldly wise, eloquent, persuasive, and flattering. That appropriately describes Sherem (Jacob 7), Nehor (Alma 1), Amlici (Alma 2), and Korihor (Alma 30).

Some kill souls spiritually, others physically. Some do both. Amlici was responsible for the deaths of more than nineteen thousand people (see also Alma 3:1–3). He did much spiritual damage as well.
